County of Ventura Juvenile Detention Facility

The 45-acre master-planned County of Ventura Juvenile Facilities Complex in Oxnard, California was built in three phases and consists of a Juvenile Detention Center, Commitment, and Courts facility. The state of the art detention and commitment facility was completed in 2003 and includes an expansive complex of outdoor recreation areas for both detention and commitment programs, a multipurpose gymnasium/technology training center, a visiting center, medical offices and examination rooms, an intake/community confinement/booking area, classrooms, program and facility administration offices, staff areas with locker rooms, showers, and a dining room, and a juvenile courthouse with six courtrooms located adjacent to the Juvenile Facilities. For each phase of the project, Jensen Design & Survey, Inc. provided civil engineering design and improvement plan preparation consisting of grading, storm drainage, sewer, fire line, domestic water, and street plans for the facility, and Caltrans Street improvement plans for Vineyard Avenue (State Route). JDS successfully facilitated regular progress meetings with a large project team including contractors, the County of Ventura, and other regulatory officials.
